How To Dress Well - ‘Total Loss’ (Album Stream)

After an impressive debut album released almost two years ago named ‘Love Remains’, which was ranked 19th on the ‘Top 50 Albums of 2010’ by Pitchfork Media, and ‘Just Once’ EP in 2011 Tom Krell, known by the moniker How To Dress Well, returns with a ghostly sweet sophomore album entitled ‘Total Loss’.
With the powerfully sweet amount of emotion applied to this brand new album, ‘Total Loss’ could be so emotional that it could make Kimbo Slice shed a tear or two (if lucky). It takes elements of contemporary R&B and explores feelings by experimenting with sounds to compliment the feel that Krell is getting across perfectly. Vocally, the album sounds a lot more cleaner than the debut album ‘Love Remains’, which set Tom Krell in his own lane for the lo-fi effect which gave it that “poor quality” feel, yet made the songs and emotions genuine. Despite the vocals in this album being noticeably cleaner, the vibe is still there will still satisfy his fans and new audiences with this brand new album.
Without a doubt, the album is one of Tom’s most beautiful masterpieces and allows you to feel the emotion implied by both the lyrics and the musical production. This alternative indie-R&B album is perfect for those who are fans of The Weeknd, who like a more mature, chilled, alternative and sophisticated sound (no disrespect to Abel Tesfaye). With 11 tracks of soothing ghostly vocals containing no guest features, this album may just make it as one of the top 50 albums of 2012.
‘Total Loss’ will be hitting the shelves on September 18th and is now available to pre-order on iTunes. Head over to Electronic Beats to stream the album in it’s entirety. Drop a comment below or message us on the link above with your thoughts on the brand new album.
