Wiz Admits ‘Rolling Papers’ Wasn’t His Best Album

Being a Wiz fans from before the release of his 3rd studio album, I’ve always said that I haven’t been feeling this new Wiz Khalifa, ever since I heard the most played-out anthem of 2010 ‘Black & Yellow’. Watching Wiz grow from a tattoo-less rapper to developing into the inked-up emcee has been interesting, especially as we’ve hear the rapper before the weed to where he is now.

Wiz has turned to his Tumblr to write a letter to his fans in which he wrote about the switch from ‘Kush & Orange Juice’ (which I would consider his best project yet) to his debut album with Atlantic Records, ‘Rolling Papers’, saying:

“I remember when I made ‘Kush and Orange Juice’, I listened to it and knew I had created a new genre that wld change music.The mistake I made on Rolling Papers was thinking it was time to move on from that genre not knowing that it had impacted people so much. The album did great numbers, but creatively wasn’t my best work. No regrets though. We live and we learn.”

Wiz continued by announcing two upcoming projects for his fans to expect:

“I’ve gone further into the world we’ve created and elaborated on our genre with the [upcoming] mixtape ‘Taylor Allderdice’ and of course my sophomore album ‘ONIFC’. I’m so confident in the artistry and creativity of these projects because so much living went along with them. These aren’t songs aimed to be hits or widely accepted or even understood. It’s for people who live like us and can relate. And informative to those who can’t. Either way we’re inviting mu fuggas deep into our world and I can’t wait.”

So it looks like we could be expecting an updated version of the ‘Kush & OJ’ Wiz and his latest single, ‘California’ produced by Cardo, sounds like a cut which indicates the Wiz we love is back.
