Deadfreaks is…

…not your normal Tumblr blogger. He is a creative weirdo who has a passion for photography, video production, writing, short films, music, style/fashion and cultures, who’s pursuing a career in photography and video.

What’s your name?

Mars DiCapo or you can call me Jimmy Coldchain. They’re not my real names, but they’re the names I go by.

What do you do?

I’m a krump dancer of four years and running, that has taught krump workshops, travelled, entered and participated in numerous battles and competitions, involved in a number of music videos, adverts and a film.

I also write short stories when I’m bored and need to let my mind out. I haven’t got any finished products but I will one day as I do want to share them out and want to work with a lot of talented and creative people.

As well as that, I’m just a guy that takes photos. I wouldn’t call myself a photographer just yet, nor do I do studio photography at the moment as I would like to learn more about controlling light and other things which I need to know.

What does ‘Deadfreaks’ mean?

Dead: Slang for boring or nothing interesting. I’m into a lot of things that people are not into, that people don’t like in terms of music, fashion, culture, style, films.. etc.

Freaks: Weird. I see myself as a weird person. I talk to myself when I’m by myself.. it keeps me sane. I sometimes do or say weird stuff. Not freakish weird, just weird but interesting things. Sometimes random things.

To me, it’s about difference. Liking things you really like, that you really enjoy, not because others like it and you have to like or accept it in order to fit in. Dead could mean lifeless, nothing interesting, or nothing special. Freaks are seen as weirdos. You got people that like different or weird things and don’t follow trends, they are just themselves. They like independence and that’s what Deadfreaks supports. If that make sense.

Where is Mars from?

A nice, little area in North West London called Camden Market.

What is this blog about?

Just to clarify things up, it’s NOT a ‘Tumblr Swag’ blog where I post up pretty images of light-skin people (no offence, just going with the typical things I see) with nice eyes, tattoos, Jordans, snapbacks etc. and only that. It’s more than that.

It’s really just a place where I share what’s on my mind, thoughts and views on things, discussions and information that people may like, other shit like such as photography, videos, new music, films, downloads, events and more.

Once I get all my work and projects running, then I would like to make this more of my own personal diary where it’s all to do with my stuff and the things I like and see.. but I do however want to one day have my own online magazine, which takes what I do with this blog but more, with people getting involved in it like a regular magazine but taking this whole magazine thing to another direction.

Do you follow people back on Tumblr?

Sometimes. I do check blogs out when asked and give feedbacks. If I like, then I follow.

What are the things that Mars likes?

Music (I’m into pretty much anything, I’m down for good music of any genre), dance, fashion and culture of all sorts (mainly ‘20 - late ’30s fashion, punk, rock and hip hop culture) good music with great lyrics or metaphors/punchlines, sex, pornography, art, body art, photography, original ideas that make me wish I came up with it, Nike SB, theatres & plays, short films, Wifi, free internet access, Strawberry Ribena, super-villains, Carnage (from the Spiderman comic books), zombies, freaks, evil clowns, sugar and gypsy skulls, This Is England, British punk culture, black & red, Tommy the original green dude from the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.

And the things that Mars dislikes?

All seafood (I just totally hate fish), materialism, capitalism, spiders, anything dirty (I have OCD), traffic, porno with terrible acting at the start, YouTube videos with ads that you cannot skip, people that complain about things such as changes that they can do but they choose not to, winter, snow, the grey weather of Britain, war, cheating lying politicians, ignorant motherfuckers.
